After being inspired initially through the shadows she saw on the grass of trees She worked over a period of months to create a method that did not depict an object as a two-dimensional picture. It is more like the object has been transformed into it's own representation with the canvas taking on the artist's interpretation. This works best for objects that are living as well as items that have a shelf life like people or fruits. The style that Alexa paints is ephemeral and only the photos of her work remain. Photography and painting are tightly connected to form two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe l'oeil. In certain places, three dimensions are observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade will sometimes integrate her painted model into the surrounding three-dimensional environment that allows her to work within the world of their own. The boundaries between performance, installation, photography and painting is thus broken.
